Faith leaders from Latin America are coming together in a powerful ecumenical alliance to advocate for climate justice. Representatives from various traditions, including Roman Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, and indigenous groups, will gather in Belém, Brazil for COP30 in November 2025.
Keynote speakers at the event will include Archbishop Marines Bassotto and Cardinal Jaime Spengler. The focus will be on addressing the impact of mining on the Amazon, deforestation, and the need for financial support for adaptation and loss and damage.
The gathering aims to amplify the voices of those most affected by climate change and propose concrete solutions. Participants will craft a Call to Action to present to the COP30 Presidency, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
Organized by multiple faith-based organizations, including the World Council of Churches and Caritas Internationalis, this event highlights the critical role that religious leaders play in addressing environmental issues. Join us in supporting this important movement for a sustainable future.
